Design & Presence
The Flat Porto Coffee Table is built around a low, grounded silhouette and pure geometric clarity. Resting low to the floor, the table introduces a monolithic presence to the living room through disciplined metal massing. Its circular flat steel tabletop sits over a curved steel plate base, creating an anchored focal point that balances soft seating without breaking sightlines across open residential pavilions.
Both the tabletop and foundational base are fabricated from heavy-gauge steel. To achieve the continuous cylindrical form, master metal artisans roll and curve a solid steel plate into a smooth, unbroken round profile. The flat steel top is precision-welded to the curved base from within, concealing structural joints and providing rigid, unyielding stability that resists deflection under everyday loads.
In daily use, the cool, planar steel surface provides an enduring platform for books, objects, and morning coffee. A protective matte architectural coating shields the metal against spills and surface marks while softening ambient reflections. Conceived and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Flat Porto table brings architectural stillness and honest metal craft into contemporary domestic life.
