The Berlapis Bench by NICCHRIS takes its character from a simple idea: repeating layers of solid wood to create something unexpected.

At first glance, the bench has a straightforward rectangular silhouette. Look beneath the seat, however, and you'll notice that each end is supported by a series of parallel wooden panels.

These layered supports create depth and changing shadows, giving Berlapis a sculptural quality without relying on elaborate decoration.

The Detail Is in the Layers

What makes Berlapis particularly interesting is how its wooden elements are arranged.

The long solid wood seat extends slightly beyond the supports, creating a subtle overhang. Beneath it, the vertical panels stand in parallel, with narrow spaces between them that reveal the individual layers.

From the front, the bench appears simple and grounded. From an angle, the repeated wooden panels become more visible, revealing the detail behind its construction.

The natural wood grain adds another dimension, making each piece visually distinctive.
