An Open Silhouette with a Distinctive Cut-Out Detail
The Tunnel Lounge Chair by NICCHRIS challenges the familiar shape of a traditional armchair. Instead of enclosing the seating area with solid armrests, Tunnel introduces an opening along its side, creating an unusual profile that distinguishes it from conventional upholstered chairs.
The backrest curves gently towards the seat, with the upholstery forming a continuous, rounded body. Its most recognisable detail is the cut-out beneath the backrest, which reveals a glimpse of the space beyond the chair. This opening gives Tunnel its name and adds an unexpected element to the design. Beneath the upholstery, short, angled legs lift the chair off the floor.
Tunnel is particularly appealing in spaces where a conventional armchair might feel too formal. Its low, rounded seat and absence of traditional armrests give it a more casual personality, making it suitable for relaxed living rooms, bedrooms, or a small seating corner.
Tunnel also suits mid-century-inspired and contemporary interiors, where furniture with individual character can sit alongside more conventional pieces. Positioning the chair slightly away from a wall allows its side opening to remain visible, making the design interesting from different viewing angles rather than just from the front.

Cold-cured foam cores enveloped in breathable Dacron batting yield an immediate supple surface embrace, followed by progressive spinal cradling that prevents cushion depression and seating fatigue over years of daily enjoyment.
Hand-Rubbed Open-Pore Protective Sealants
Solid wood legs receive multiple coats of an ultra-matte, low-sheen protective sealant rubbed in entirely by hand. Shields against scuffs and moisture while keeping natural wood pores open to develop an authentic patina over time.
