Design & Presence
The Claris Coffee Table pairs a clear tempered glass top with an architectural solid wood base. Sitting low to the floor, its transparent upper plane preserves open sightlines across the living room while exposing the interlocking timber structure below. By balancing a light, reflective surface with a grounded wooden frame, the design anchors central seating without adding visual heaviness to the room.
The foundation is built from solid wood, constructed using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery along the load-bearing rails and legs. Each timber component is hand-selected for consistent grain flow and dimensional stability. The heavy tempered glass surface rests securely on concealed silicone contact pads recessed into the timber frame, protecting the wood and keeping the glass firmly in position while accommodating natural timber movement.
In everyday living, the tempered glass top provides a resilient, stain-resistant surface for drinks, books, and serving trays that wipes clean with ease. The smooth, hand-eased solid wood edges soften foot-level pathways around surrounding sofas. Designed and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Claris table offers an honest, durable center for daily domestic life.
