Design & Presence
The Satin Side Table is defined by its compact footprint and soft, rounded perimeter. Designed to rest comfortably beside deep armchairs and low sofas, its softened silhouette introduces a calm, sculpted profile to the living area without crowding walkways. The cylindrical massing and smooth curved profile eliminate sharp corners from circulation paths, grounding the corner of a room with quiet visual weight.
Both the tabletop and the curved drum base are constructed entirely from solid wood. To create the continuous rounded edge and curved vertical form, solid wood panels are precision-joined and hand-shaped into a seamless drum. Beneath, traditional mortise-and-tenon framing and internal braces lock the timber segments firmly together. Slotted expansion fasteners secure the solid wood top, allowing the natural timber to breathe and adjust to humidity changes without warping or pulling the joints apart.
In daily use, the compact solid wood surface provides a stable, accessible resting spot for morning coffee, evening drinks, or a table lamp right at arm level. The smooth, hand-eased curved edges feel comfortable under your hands, while the matte protective finish protects the timber against spills and daily wear while preserving the open-pore wood texture. Conceived and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Satin table brings enduring woodworking craft into the rhythms of everyday life.
