The Joot Arm Dining Chair is defined by an open timber framework and handwoven natural jute cord. Proportioned at 580mm wide by 490mm deep with a 780mm backrest height, its low silhouette provides generous arm support while preserving clear sightlines across open dining areas. The tensioned cord panels introduce textural openness to the dining table, avoiding the heavy visual mass of conventional fully upholstered armchairs.

The structural frame is built entirely from solid wood. Each timber section is hand-selected and grain-aligned to withstand repetitive lateral and downward loads. Traditional mortise-and-tenon joints lock the continuous arm rails directly into the front legs and rear uprights, forming a rigid chassis that prevents joint looseness. The natural jute cord is hand-laced and tensioned across the timber sub-frame, creating a resilient, flexible web that yields naturally to seated posture while keeping mechanical joints free of torsional strain.

In daily dining, the breathable jute webbing offers long-lasting, responsive comfort through extended meals and evening gatherings. The hand-eased solid wood edges feel smooth when pulling the chair forward, while the calibrated armrest height slides cleanly beneath standard dining tabletops. Protected by a matte finish that highlights the raw timber grain, the chair is conceived, resolved, and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia.
