Design & Presence
The Jovet Dining Chair is defined by an armless, compact stance and a continuous curved backrest that provides structured support without visual bulk. Proportioned at 510mm wide by 540mm deep with an 840mm height, its clean silhouette tucks cleanly along dining table runs, preserving clear walkways. The gentle arc of the crest rail frames the seated posture, establishing a calm architectural rhythm when arranged in multiples across dining spaces.
The structural frame is built entirely from solid wood. Each timber section is hand-selected and grain-aligned along the curved crest and tapered legs to withstand daily dining stresses. Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery unites the rear uprights, stretchers, and apron into an interlocking chassis that resists joint looseness. Slotted internal fasteners secure the upholstered seat, allowing the solid timber to breathe naturally across seasonal humidity shifts.
In daily dining, the supportive curved back panel and high-density cushioned seat provide balanced comfort through extended evening gatherings. The armless profile allows easy entry and exit in compact dining spaces, while hand-eased timber arrises feel smooth underhand. Finished with a durable matte protective coat, the wood resists spills while revealing its natural grain. Conceived and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Jovet chair brings honest woodworking craft to everyday domestic life.
