Design & Presence
The Pandan Foldable Rattan Chair pairs spatial versatility with architectural timber craft. Measuring 480mm wide by 520mm deep with an 810mm backrest height, it provides balanced seating posture while folding flat to just 120mm deep for compact storage. Natural octagonal cane webbing across the backrest and seat establishes permeable visual lightness, keeping sightlines open across compact dining alcoves and multi-use living rooms.
The structural frame is constructed entirely from solid wood, supported by concealed mechanical pivot hardware and traditional mortise-and-tenon joints. Hand-selected timber members are grain-aligned along the front uprights and rear diagonal supports to carry downward seating loads without flexing. The natural rattan panels are hand-splined into perimeter timber channels under tension, creating a resilient, flexible surface that conforms comfortably to the body without stretching out of shape.
In daily living, the breathable rattan weave encourages cooling airflow in warm dining spaces, making it comfortable during extended meals. Hand-eased timber arrises provide smooth handling when deploying or stowing the chair, protected by a durable matte finish that repels handling marks and spills.
