Design & Presence
The Orson Coffee Table is designed around the tactile contrast between natural stone and solid timber. Sitting low to the floor, the table anchors the center of the living room with a substantial visual footprint. The cool, distinct veining of the selected marble slab forms a continuous horizontal plateau, resting securely on a disciplined solid wood leg structure that provides warmth and physical balance without crowding the floor area.
To support the substantial weight of the marble slab, the supporting leg chassis is built entirely from solid wood. We construct the base using traditional mortise-and-tenon joints along the load-bearing aprons, creating a rigid interlocking frame that evenly distributes downward stone weight. The timber is seasoned through controlled kiln-drying to stabilize internal moisture, preventing joint movement, while the outer corners are hand-eased to remove sharp arrises.
In daily use, the combination of materials creates a practical living surface. The honed marble top handles everyday cups, books, and objects, while the smooth solid wood base softens the profile at foot level. The matte protective finish shields both stone and timber from daily marks while keeping their natural textures open to the touch. Conceived and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Orson table offers a calm, balanced anchor for your home.
