Design & Presence
The Monterez Coffee Table is shaped around an organic, free-form perimeter and a grounded low profile. Resting at a height of 260mm with an expansive 1470mm by 800mm footprint, its sweeping contour softens the rigid lines of modular sofas while maintaining uninterrupted sightlines across the living space. The asymmetric silhouette encourages natural flow around central seating without sharp corners intruding into walking pathways.
The tabletop is formed from selected natural marble, while the table legs are built from solid wood. To support the substantial weight of the asymmetric stone slab, the solid wood legs are framed using traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, creating an interlocking timber structure that distributes downward loads evenly. Each piece of solid wood is kiln-dried to stabilize internal moisture, preventing movement and keeping the joint connections solid over years of residential use.
In daily living, the table provides a practical, low surface for art books, coffee trays, and objects within easy reach of low lounge seating. The honed marble slab stays cool to the touch and handles everyday items reliably, while the warm solid wood legs ground the piece visually. Finished with protective coatings on both stone and timber, it is designed and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia for enduring domestic life.
