Design & Presence
The Takashi Dining Chair is defined by an open, low-slung stance and an expressive curved crest rail. Proportioned at 580mm wide by 440mm deep with a 790mm backrest height, its armless silhouette nests comfortably under dining tables, maintaining clear sightlines across open-plan interiors. The sweeping solid wood backrest wraps gently around the sitter, anchoring dining arrangements with calm architectural balance.
The chassis is constructed entirely from solid wood. Hand-selected timber members are grain-aligned along the curved back rail, under-seat apron, and tapered legs to withstand continuous load bearing. Traditional mortise-and-tenon joints lock the structural frame into a rigid assembly engineered to resist lateral racking. Slotted expansion relief beneath the seat ensures the solid timber breathes freely across seasonal humidity fluctuations without joint fatigue.
In daily dining, the resilient cushioned seat and contoured crest rail provide balanced spinal support through long meals and morning routines. Hand-eased perimeter arrises feel smooth underhand when pulling the chair forward, while a durable matte protective finish shields against liquid spills and handling marks.
